Dolphins Water Polo Club
The Dolphins Water Polo Club's junior program is based on competing in the competitions described below. Much of the activities of the program revolves around preparing the young players for each game and teaching them both individual and team based skills whilst ensuring they are also fit enough to play the game to the point that it is both challenging and fun.
The program runs over term 4 and the following term 1 of the school year and fees are currently set at $200.00 for the Western Suburbs Water Polo competition and $400.00 for those competing in the Water Polo WA competitions. Dolphins also offers holiday programs for those extra keen players.
Western Suburbs Water Polo
After Flippa Ball there is two options open to our young water polo players. One option is to compete in the inter club competitions held by Water Polo WA. However for those with prior commitments on Monday nights or perhaps you can't make the required training commitment for the Monday night competition or you just want to take it easy and simply play a game once a week, well there is Western Suburbs Water Polo (WSWP).
WSWP is for years 7 to year 11 players and is played on Saturday mornings.
The compeition is open to individuals, school teams or bring along your winter sport team and keep the team work going.
Water Polo Western Australia (WPWA) runs an inter-club junior competition on Sundays for B Division teams and Monday nights for A Division teams.
The competition is age group based and caters for 14s, 16s and 18s. Ages are determined by how old the player will be in the year the competition ends. For example:- this current summer's season will end in March 2019, therefore a player born in 2002 will not be eligible to play in the 16s competition because they would be 17 in 2019, even though they may be 16 at the start of the season.
As each age group has a two year span WPWA try to have two divisions in each group and clubs generally put the younger players in the B division.
Players competing in this competition will be required to attend training sessions. The competition is competitive with clubs taking great pride in their teams' achievements.
Dolphins offers the Western Suburbs Water Polo option for players who don't wish or are unable to make the required commitment. Dolphins is committed to ensuring we offer players the opportunity to enjoy their water polo at the level they choose.
Water Polo Australia will be hosting the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships for the first time in January 2019. The championships is club based for the 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s age groups.
These championships are seen as an important step in the development of players that wish to pursue an elite pathway, they are also great fun and allow athletes to gain a broader picture of the sport. Dolphins is very supportive of its teams and the players who are prepared to do the hard work and compete at this national level.
